International Code of Phylogenetic Nomenclature (PhyloCode)

Appendix A. Registration Procedures and Data Requirements

Most recent revision:

This appendix may be revised more frequently than the main body of the code and without a formal meeting of the CPN. The most recent information will be made available through the ISPN website.
  1. Registration procedures

Clade names and definitions governed by this code must be registered in RegNum, the repository of clade names that is maintained under the auspices of the International Society for Phylogenetic Nomenclature. After a name and definition are submitted to RegNum through its web interface, the submission will be checked for missing data. A temporary registration number will be issued at this time if the work in which the name will appear has not yet been accepted. Once the work has been accepted for publication, the author must notify RegNum and provide a full reference to the publication in order for the registration number to become permanent. Alternatively, an author may wait until after acceptance for publication before submitting the name, in which case the registration number will be issued immediately.

If the spelling or definition of a submitted name is identical to one that already exists in the registration database, the author will be warned.

  2. Data fields
